So downloaded and played first chapter and I'm thinking this is a Room Series lookalike I hope it's as good if not better otherwise don't bother. It's got the look and feel of the Room, similar mechanics and even the optical spyglass with bells on, lets see if it turns out to be a winner or (not a cheap) imitation. UPDATE so it takes some confidence to launch a game so similar in look, feel, style and mechanics to the brilliant Room series and my initial early review echoed a concern that it would be a pale imitation, well it's not and the developers are to be congratulated, if you love the Room series get this and enjoy. Fireproof Games Room series set the bar really high but these guys have matched it and delivered a really impressive, immersive game played without a bug or glitch. Admittedly a couple of the challenges are a bit esoteric and it's a bit easy to miss manipulating found items and the clock thingy in the final chapter is clunky but hey in 4 hours of gameplay that's ok. ...

I went on the App Store in hope of finding something like the room series to tide me over until four comes out. I did not think I would find something SO similar it might as well be the next instalment in the room series. Similar to the point that it even features the same puzzles, general atmosphere, letters from some unseen correspondent and magical eye pieces. If it wasn’t such a high quality production it would be pretty cheeky really but this is as easily good as the room series but welcomingly larger, probably harder and more ambitious - some of the puzzles seem to go on forever! Main issue, as other reviewers have noted is that it very dark in its lighting, meaning some of the puzzle solutions involve randomly tapping in the dark rather than figuring something out unless you turn your brightness up to full... Polished and solid effort though and worth the money, although clearly at least three others of this sort of game have have preceded it!

Having played the Room series I was looking for something similar. Well, this is similar. Certain controls and features should immediately remind you of the rooms. Some of the puzzles are interesting, no doubt, and keep you busy for a while. The graphics are generally good and detailed. However, as others have already mentioned, several of the various environments are far too dark, you can hardly see a thing if you are playing during daytime! And do not attempt to play it on a normal-sized phone, this is to be played on a larger screen in my opinion (you just cannot see enough on a small screen!). The navigation controls, zooming in and out, were what really annoyed me. Too many times you want to zoom in a bit further to seek and see the important detail - but the game won’t let you. Other times the game zooms out too far after every step, it wastes plenty time and does not feel like an explorer would move and, well, explore. I’ve now finished it. It took some time, so well done to ent...

Many reviews here compare this game to The Room series. The similarities are certainly there, and if you enjoyed The Room, you likely enjoy this game too. That said, it’s lacking the same level of plush, and there are a few flaws in the game that I think should have been caught with more QA. The eyepiece works when it feels like it... I got stuck in a few places because the eyepiece wasn’t showing things when it should have. A second or third try revealed the details. This happened on almost all puzzles that required the eyepiece to solve. The other problem is that there are a couple of puzzles the require you to slide an item over a bunch of tiles and if you don’t have the sliding mechanism lined up to the exact pixel at a junction it was tedious to get it to go where I wanted to even though I could visualize how to solve the puzzle. Otherwise the difficulty between this game and The Room is about the same, although I found it a bit harder to figure out what to do with certain items...
