Melaninterest was created in order to serve our culture online. In today’s day and age, most technology apps have algorithms that do not serve our community. Usually in searches, you have to add “black girl“ and even then the results are underwhelming. We have a solution for that. Melaninterest’s purpose is to create an online directory that allows melaninated individuals a way to easily find content that serves them.

    The only reason this rating doesn’t have 5 stars is because ethos app NEEDS upgrading!! There are glitches! When I click on a photo to enlarge it from the Home Screen there is no swipe function to return back to Home Screen in the position I was scrolling in and the arrow bars to move back a forth btw pages DO NOT WORK! I’m not sure if it’s my phones compatibility with the system I have an iPhone SE 2020 and update my iOS every time there’s an upgrade so it not me. I would love if the interface was more colorful like I get it we’re black the app is for black women but must it remain so dreary looking?! WE NEED COLOR! I literally just downloaded it so I will keep reviewing as I find issues so please developers do something about my issues I’m tired of our stuff (black people stuff) constantly being sub par. The app content is AMAZING and I love that we have a space for us I really just want the apps greatness to reflect ours ?❤️ CRITICISMS SENT WITH LOVE ❤️

    To be honest it is a great idea and it is good but it is just on like the original Pinterest. It is way harder to get around on the app. When I was trying it out I saw some things I had like but I couldn’t save the images like the other Pinterest. And the back button would be frozen and I would have to exit the whole app to go back to the page I was looking at. And I would rather go back to writing “on black girl” cause it is just easier.?

    The app is nice and easy to use, but there are some issues that need to be fixed. I’ve been trying to edit my profile but it won’t let me do anything. I tried to add a profile and cover picture with no success. Tried different sizes, tried the size they suggested and still nothing. Basically I can’t do anything to edit the profile section. And the last thing is about ads. It’s nice and all that the app is free and therefore ads are needed, but this is just on another level. I barely have the time to click on something that there’s an ad popping up and as if it wasn’t enough as soon as the ad ends there are one or two others immediately popping up again within seconds. I don’t mind the ads but the fact that they pop up every second just makes the app unusable and that’s really unfortunate.
