I use the platform to communicate with students, share resources, assign tasks and then annotate them and send them back to students.” —Lucia Bartolotti, EFL Teacher, Italy “As a classroom teacher, I find that education can sometimes be isolating even though I work with approximately 75 other teachers. I am so happy that I am able to collaborate with other teachers who are also using Edmodo, as this really helps me feel connected.” —Shelby Place, Teacher, China “The ability to connect with international educators and share that experience with my students is a major perk.” —Lacey, Teacher, United States “I've used different products but I stick with Edmodo because it is easy to use, appealing to my students, and most of all, it's packed with features!” —Anna Lyn Lumibao, Teacher For more information, visit www.edmodo.com.

The edmodo app is a great way to communicate in the classroom and for students to be caught up to new material when they are absent. However, my main issue with the app is: A planner/calendar. Before the update, students could easily access the "planner" function, which is currently missing from the app, on the assignments tab. It is inefficient and time consuming for students to have to access the actual website (by re-logging in) everytime they wish to access the calendar. Some of my teachers post frequently on the calendar, but because for some reason, they are not listed as an "assignment," and therefore do not show up unless I check the actual website. The app also takes a long time to load (but it could just be my slow wifi) and crashes frequently.

In the IPad version, I’m not allowed to give a score for the short answers in a quiz. iPad version I also cannot request resubmission of an assignment. I would like to see the table like in the desktop version, that shows all the assignments and scores. This way I can see at a quick glance which students don’t have the assignment scores or turned in - very handy when you’ve got 100+ students and multiple assignments. When grading assignments in the IPad version, I have to always type in the total score, very annoying when you have lots of students. This is different from the desktop version that once you type in the “out of” or maximum score, it’s there for the rest of the assignments. Also helpful if you’re interrupted and have to stop for a long time - I’ve actually forgotten what my total score should have been and typed in the wrong one!

I’ve used this app on many devices for 5 years and the push notifications never seem to work. They did for a little while last year, but no more. My students send me messages that I never see unless I actually open the app. I (only sometimes) get SMS messages because I entered my phone number into the Edmodo website, but the app’s push notifications are completely unreliable. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app many times on different iPhones and iPads and made sure all notifications settings in the phone and in the app or “on”. It just doesn’t work.

It logs me out some times, which is very frustrating when I need to get on and find out that it has logged me out. On my computer it just doesn’t keep me logged in at all so I guess there’s a little improvement somewhere. The overwhelming amount of ads make it seem like this app is just here to make money and not to actually help students, especially the ads that show up in your class feed because at first I though it was something my teacher had posted. Pretty confusing to navigate especially since it doesn’t have a tutorial or at least it didn’t give me a tutorial on either of my devices. Hard to find posts and assignments from awhile ago and you can’t sort by just your teachers posts to find them. The discover tab is useless and just another way to squeeze money out of this app it seems. Some of my teachers have switched to using google sites instead of this site because of how much they don’t like it.
