Description
B4UFLY is the simple way for drone operators to check airspace and local advisories before taking flight. Stay compliant and contribute to safer national airspace by making yourself aware of advisories and restrictions in the airspace and local advisories around you. With B4UFLY, you simply open the app and select where you want to fly to see the status of the airspace selected, as well as details regarding surrounding advisories. B4UFLY is provided through a partnership between the FAA and Aloft (formerly Kittyhawk). Learn more at https://aloft.ai/b4ufly/ We have also added new crowdsourcing functionality for people to contribute to our global advisory and compliance database. You can flag areas for review and submit new locations for addition to B4UFLY advisories from within the app, or you can also visit this page to submit areas for review at https://aloft.ai/b4ufly-data-submission-form/. If you have a general question or comment about UAS or drones, please send us an email at [email protected] or call us at 844-FLY-MY-UA (359-6982) 8am – 4pm ET Monday – Friday.

Looking at many reviews, it seems some are not part 107 certified. Yes, you can fly at or near many airports in class G airspace. The app has a great “Notify and Fly” feature. However, I wish there was a way to “cancel” a flight. Also, as drone regulations seem to be ever changing, it would be worth it for more to get Part 107 certification. This app is great, but I don’t feel there will ever be 1 general source that will cover everything. Municipalities, each state, National Park Service vs. USFS, wilderness and some trails, the list just goes on and on. There is no way a recreational pilot would ever know where he can and can not fly. Having said all that, this app is a great start in making more responsible pilots.

I was contemplating purchasing a drone but live less than 1 mile away from a moderately busy small airport. While scouring the FAA website and other official resources for any safety information I could find, the FAA site recommended installing and using this app. It seemed like exactly what I wanted until I tried it. Regardless of where I drop a pin, it says it’s safe to fly. I was initially happy it said it was safe to fly in my backyard but felt it may have been inaccurate because I can almost see the runway of the airport from my backyard. So I dropped a pin directly in the airport and the app said it was “good to go”. Dropped a pin directly on the airport runway. Same thing, “good to go”. Dropped a pin on the runway of Philadelphia International Airport. Yep, it said “good to go”. The only way I could get this app to finally say “prohibited from flying” was to drop a pin directly on the White House. Now I have to hope the Secret Service doesn’t come kicking down my door tha...

I understand current location is available behind the search icon, and I appreciate notify and fly, but it feels like there should also be a button for current location as quickly and visibly reachable. That would make zipping around the map quicker imho. Anyway, I use this app daily, so thank you.

I clicked on a different part of the map to see the conditions, then I was unable to click a button to bring me back to my present location. I read a previous commentWhere are you explain there is a button to bring you back to your present location. I am on an iPhone and there is no button to click that brings me back to my present location. There's only a blue dot showing my location. I can only click around that blue dot to get The black teardrop marker close to my present location. There is no button to bring me back to my present location.
